Darlene Leatherbury, 63, Minot, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at a Kenmare hospital.
Darlene was born on December 24, 1961 in Hampton, VA to Charles and Joyce (Ramsey) Sweet. She was raised and educated in Hampton, graduating from Bethel High School. Darlene continued her education at Thomas Nelson Community College in Hampton, where she would obtain an Associate's Degree.
On December 28th, 1985, Darlene was united in marriage to Curtis Leatherbury in Hampton. He used to tease her that he married an older woman because they were born on the same day, but she arrived one hour before he did. From this union came two sons, Curtis Jr. and Andrew.
Darlene was a hard worker. She got her first job at Cole's Book Store the day she got her driver's license. She would later work at the movie theater, candy shop, and Gordon's Jewelry in Hampton. After she moved to Minot with Curtis, Darlene worked at both the Dakota Elementary School and the youth center at the Minot Air Force Base as a lunch program supervisor. At nights, she worked at Target in Minot with her husband Curtis.
Darlene is survived by her sons, Curtis Jr. (Christine) and Andrew (Samatha), both of Minot; grandchildren, Amelia, Miles, and Lyra; brothers, Steve (Judy), Smithville, VA and Terry (Mary) Sweet, North Carolina; father and mother-in-laws, Darrell and Marilee Leatherbury, Clarkston, WA; sister-in-law, Vicki (Steve) Frei, Clarkston, WA; brother-in-law, Steve (Lisa) Leatherbury, Clarkston, WA; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
