ORANGE- Darlene R. Nutter- Truehart, 63, of Memorial Drive, died Sunday evening, November 17, 2024 at home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Athol on July 19, 1961, she was the daughter of Gerald P. and Beverly (Dora) Truehart and grew up in Athol graduating in 1979. Darlene later took courses at Fitchburg State and received her Associate's Degree from Central New England College.
Darlene was always a hard worker, beginning with working in her grandparents' bakery, and then working at Athol Pizza, the L. S. Starrett Company, Eastwood Pines, Timpkin and lastly employed at Markem Imaje.
Darlene "married" Mary Helen Nutter in 1983, renewed their vows and love in 1990, and were able to legally marry in 2004 and have enjoyed their more than 40 years together.
Darlene enjoyed sports, including the Boston Red Sox, the Miami Dolphins, and the Patriots. She loved routing on her sons, nieces, nephews, and most recently her great nephew and great nieces. Darlene truly loved the ocean, all sea creatures and always wanted to swim with the dolphins. She did get to swim with the sharks. The ocean was her favorite spot to visit, especially Wells, Maine. Spending time with family was the most important to her. She had also enjoyed doing yard work, bowling, playing pool and her dogs including her current one "Dora". Darlene had also enjoyed traveling which included Ireland, Italy and France.
In her younger years, Darlene coached softball for Athol Little League.
Darlene participated with the North Quabbin Citizens' Advocacy programs. She also had enjoyed and served on committees of the former Bethany Lutheran Church in Orange which gave her much happiness.
Darlene was always supportive and nurturing of family and friends and will be greatly missed.

We were truly blessed through this cancer journey and helping Darlene cross over to her next adventure could not have been possibleable without her nephew and nieces Keith Paul Truehart Jr. (June), Kia Leger (Ryan) and Kari McGivern (Steven).
