Darlene Purintun

Darlene A. Purintun 83, of Rockford, passed away on Tuesday, January 4, 2022 at her home with her family by her side. She was born on November 30, 1938, the daughter of Elmer and Evelyn York.

She married Dean Purintun on August 9, 1957. Darlene enjoyed traveling with her children and spending time with her great grandchildren. She was a 'hands-on, sleeves rolled up' Mom, Grandma & Great Grandma – available for all the happy times and not so happy times. She had an adventurous spirit, enjoyed listening to country music and telling stories.

Darlene was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, mother, friend and the strong matriarch of our family. She was a dedicated mother and grandmother first and foremost. She especially loved her role as Grandma. Her legacy and love for her family will live on through them.

She is survived by her husband, Dean; children, Ronald (Kassy) Purintun, Cindy Chappell, Dean Jr., Susan Littlefield; grandchildren, Christy (Mark) Gentile, Cory Purintun, Nichol Chappell, Lukas (Jasmyne) Chappell, 7 great-grandchildren; siblings, Shirley Sandidge, Gene York, Karen Murphy, Dwayne York, Marge Snyder.

Her presence in our lives will be sorely missed. She had a full life surrounded by her loved ones. She was loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
