A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Divine Mercy Parish - Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard. The committal service will follow at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery in Ledyard. Visitation will take place from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Friday, June 14, at Oakcrest Funeral Services in Bancroft. A rosary will be recited at 3:45 PM. Visitation will continue an hour prior to the Mass on Saturday, at the church.
Darlene Rose, daughter of Albert and Gertrude (Grabianowski) Von Bank, was born August 2, 1933, in Eagle Township, Kossuth County, Iowa. She graduated from Armstrong High School in 1951.
On February 13, 1954, Darlene was united in marriage to Jack P. Reece at St. Mary's Rectory in Armstrong, Iowa. The couple made their homes in the Armstrong, Swea City, and Ledyard areas, where they raised their three children. Darlene was a devoted homemaker, mother, and farm wife. She enjoyed family, her grandchildren, cooking, baking, flowers, gardening, music, dancing, and genealogy. She liked to have coffee with her friends. Darlene also worked at the local library and Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She and Jack moved from rural Swea City to Ledyard in 1998. Darlene was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Ledyard, Rosary Society, and Matzener-Estle Post #675 American Legion Auxiliary.
Darlene died June 11, 2024, at Valley Vue Care Center in Armstrong at the age of 90. Survivors include her children Clarion Reece of Ledyard, IA and his friend Mary Gelhaus, Claudia Ernst and her husband Tony of West St. Paul, MN, and Cameron Reece and his wife DeeAnn of Amherst, WI; her grandchildren Mattie Ernst and her husband Daniel Stumme of Minneapolis, MN and Patrick Ernst of St. Paul, MN. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and extended family members.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, her husband Jack (2017), and her brothers Earl, Don, and Steven Von Bank.
