John Reece

John Reece, age 76, passed away on Saturday, February 7th, 2026. He entered into his glorious place of peace and rest, and he will be deeply missed by everyone.

He was born on March 22, 1949, to the late Raymond and Fannie Jane Reece in Haywood County, where he resided most of his life.

He did many things, from farm hand to security guard at Haywood Community College to just being a handyman. He enjoyed taking rides on the Parkway and stopping to have picnics with his family. He liked hitting the creek bank to enjoy some fishing. He enjoyed gardening and growing his own vegetables. On most Monday nights, you could find him at home watching wrestling. Other times, you could possibly find him at the casino. One thing he made sure of was to spend time with his family. He was a simple man, never met a stranger, and made an impact on so many lives.

He will be deeply missed, but his memory will be forever held dear by those who knew and loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Ann Reece, four brothers, Earl, Mac Arthur, Raymond, and Ray Reece, and two sisters, Emma Joe Henderson and Martha "Sis" Gass.

He is survived by his son Johnny Reece (Kim); his grandson Dakota Reece; a brother and partner in crime, Henry Reece (Debbie); a special nephew that came into this world on his birthday, Cody Gass; many nieces and nephews; and two buddies, Trevor and John; and also a companion of 10 years, Lara James.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00PM on Monday, February 16, 2026, in the chapel of Crawford / Ray Funeral Home and Cremation Service. Pastor James Russell will be officiating. The family will be receiving friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
