Curtis Donald Gentry passed away peacefully in the presence of the family he loved on February 5, 2026, at Emerald Ridge Nursing Home in Asheville. We give thanks for the 80 years of his wonderful life.

Born on March 6, 1945, in the Spring Creek Community of Madison County, he was one of twelve children of the late George W. Gentry and the late Ethel Plemmons Gentry.

Curtis graduated from Spring Creek School in 1963 and went on to build a long and dedicated career with Ball Brothers Manufacturing in Arden, where he worked loyally for 25 years.

A man of strong faith, Curtis was a devoted member and Deacon of New Liberty Baptist Church, where he served and helped with jobs around the church for 28 ½ dedicated years. Curtis will be forever remembered as a truly good man who loved his family and served his Lord and Savior.

In 1965, Curtis married the love of his life, Priscilla Bailey Gentry. This April, they would have celebrated 61 years of a wonderful marriage. They have been blessed with two children, Lisa Shelton and her husband, Martin Shelton, Sr. and Jeffrey Curtis Gentry all of Leicester; grandchildren, Shannon Beam (Craig) of Fairview, Martin Shelton Jr. of Candler, Sydney Shelton and fiance' Jared Sargent of Asheville, and Markus and JD Gentry of Leicester; great-grandchildren, Jamie, Jenny, Craig, and David; brothers, Harold Gentry of Newport, TN, Phil Gentry( Louise) and Colin Gentry (Diane) both of Hot Springs; sisters, Sue Mosely of Hot Springs and Kathy Frisbee and Gary of Meadow Fork, NC; a sister-in-law, Rose Gentry of Kingston, TN; a brother-in-law, Harvey Norton of Dandridge, TN; 19 nieces and nephews and 32 great-nieces and nephews.

Welcoming Curtis into his heavenly home are his parents, his sisters, Patricia, Geneva, and Juanita; his brothers, Kenneth, Gene, and Sherrill; and a beloved grandchild, Curtis DeWayne.

A funeral service to honor the life of Mr. Gentry will be held at 2:00 pm, Monday, February 9, 2026, at New Liberty Baptist Church. Officiating will be Pastor Garry Rogers, Pastor Danny Little, and Pastor Jonathan Sluder. The family will be receiving friends at the church one hour prior to the funeral service. Burial will be in New Liberty Cemetery.
