Darlene Schrag, 90, of Freeman passed away on March 28th, at Oakview Terrace in Freeman. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 am on Wednesday, April 2nd, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Freeman. Visitation will be from 5-7 pm on Tuesday, April 1st, at the church.
Darlene (Dubs) Schrag, 90, died on March 28, 2025 at Oakview Terrace in Freeman, SD. She was born to Hugo and Helen (Schamber) Dubs on Feb. 5, 1935 in Hutchinson County. She was baptized on Feb. 17th, 1935 by Rev. C. D. Eifert. Darlene attended St. Paul Lutheran Day School and Freeman High School, graduating in 1953.
She married her soul mate Kermit Schrag on April 10, 1955 in Freeman, SD at St. Paul Lutheran Church. This union was blessed with three children.
After renting several farms, Kermit and Darlene purchased the Goosen farm. They started a dairy farm and operated it for over 40 years. During this time, Darlene was involved in Ladies Aide and the church choir. She was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran church. She was known for her large garden and beautiful flowers.
Darlene is survived by her three children. Carol and husband Jerry Waltner; Deb and her husband Brad Reimer; Stuart and his wife Lydia Schrag; eight grandchildren: Matthew (Rachel) Waltner, Becca (Travis) Schrag, Adam (Brandy) Reimer, Katie Waltner (TJ), Ben Schrag, Anna Reimer, Elyse (George) Wall, and Tristan Schrag; three great-grandsons, Treyton Waltner, Henry Waltner, and Jackson Legault. She is also survived by three sisters, Geraldine Saner, Evelyn Anderson, Diane (Roger) Corkill, sisters-in-law, Sylvia (Dubs) Mendel, Jeani Dubs; and many nieces , nephews, relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, Eldor Dubs, Glendon Dubs, Harlan Dubs, LaVern Dubs, and Dennis Dubs, her parents-in-law Ben P. And Ella (Waltner) Schrag. Three brothers-in law, Virgil Schrag, Wayne Schrag, and Jerry Saner, and one sister-in-law Vergene Dubs.
