Darlene C. (Hornung) Sharp, age 81 passed away on Sept. 2, 2024 at Kinsley, KS. She was born on Mar. 16, 1943 at Dodge City, KS., the daughter of Edmund and Monica (Bosman) Hornung. She had been a beautician in the 1960’s and spent most of her working life as a Mental Health Technician working with the mentally disabled and elderly for Parkview Learning Center and later retiring from Res Care. She was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Red Hat Society and took flying lessons. She had lived in Spearville, Trousdale and Larned. On Mar. 1, 1965 she married Jean Wade Sharp at Clayton, NM, he passed away in 1995. Survivors include 3 sons, Troy Sharp, Billings, MT., Joey Sharp, Great Bend, KS, Devin Sharp, Moccasin, MT; 5 daughters, Amy Sharp Friar, Larned, KS, Dorenda Sharp, Stanford, MT, Bonnie Sharp Ebert, Haviland, KS, Monica Lynn Sharp, Larned, KS, Jodi Poor, Scammon, KS; a brother, Tom Hornung, Spearville, KS; 6 sisters, Rita Venters, Kinsley, KS, Jeanie Burke, Hanston, KS, Sandi Hornung, Spearville, KS, Becky Hornung, Spearville, KS, Mary Lynn Winter, Topeka, KS, Terri Hornung, Huntville, AL; 19 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother Ted Hornung. Visitation will be from 1-7pm on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 at Minnis Chapel, St. John, with a Rosary service to follow at 7pm. Funeral Mass will be Friday, Sept. 6, 2024 at 2:00 pm, St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre, KS, Pastor: Rev. Anselm Eke. Burial will follow in the Prattsburg Cemetery, Rural Stafford County, KS. Memorials may be given to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Assoc. or the Prattsburg Cemetery in care of Minnis Chapel, Box 34, St. John, KS 67576.
