Darlene Kay Stuart passed away September 25, 2025, surrounded by family in Laramie, Wyoming at the age of 81. She was born to Rueben and Florence Theurer on March 18, 1944, in Dupree, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Dale (Washington) and her daughter Connie Jo. She is survived by her husband of 66 years William Carl Stuart, her son William Jay Stuart (Melissa), her son Darin Lee Stuart along with her grandchildren Preston Daniel Bayne, Amber Kay Clemence, William Marshall Stuart (Payton), and Tanner Jay Stuart and Jayden Marie Stuart. Great grandchildren include Brandon Thorin Clemence, Chase Stephen Clemence, Chea Grace Clemence, Dylan Preston Bayne, and Makayla Violet Bayne. In addition, she is survived by 2 great-great grandchildren.

Darlene married William (Bill) Stuart on August 16 th, 1959, in Deadwood South Dakota and they went on to have three children. Darlene spent the first years of their marriage creating a loving home for her family. The family moved to Laramie Wyoming in 1977 where she and Bill managed and worked at The Stable Door. Later, Darlene began working for the University of Wyoming in the residence halls where she helped young college students begin their college journey. She spent a brief time managing the University Common Ministries Organization and spent the end of her career working with young families in married student housing at the University of Wyoming. In 1998 she left the University to care for her grandchildren and great grandchildren, which she adored.

Darlene valued family above all and was an amazing baker, cook, seamstress and homemaker. She cared deeply for all her family and became like a second mother to the college students she worked with. She spent an enormous amount of time making sure holidays were memorable, especially Christmas and Thanksgiving. She was very focused on family, and went out of her way to share knowledge, tips, and tricks, and of course recipes for her family's favorites. She will be missed by all that knew her and cherished for the wisdom and caring she shared.
