Darlene Rosemary Wexell

Darlene R. Wexell, 89, of Galva, died Friday, March 27, 2026, at Knox County Nursing Home, Knoxville, IL. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 4th at the Galva Chapel of Stackhouse-Moore Funeral & Cremation Services. Rev. Rebecca Gearhart will officiate. Burial will be in the Galva Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Darlene Wexell Memorial Fund.

Darlene Rosemary Hodges was born January 5, 1937, in Dahinda, Illinois, the daughter of Clarence and Daisy May (Kelso) Hodges. She was educated in the Williamsfield area and graduated from Williamsfield High School in 1954. Her marriage to Dean Wexell took place on April 22, 1956, in Galesburg. He passed away on February 11, 2020.

Darlene had worked at O.T. Johnson and the Bank of Galesburg. She then worked as a cook at Hillcrest Home, rural Geneseo, from 1971 to 1991. Darlene had been active in Galva Senior Citizens and the Garden Club.

Those surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Connie Wexell, Cambridge; a grandson and granddaughter; three great-grandsons; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Her parents; her husband; a son, Eugene; two brothers, Lee and Willard Hodges; and a sister, Mildred Johnson preceded her in death.
