Darlene Veronica was born on August 25, 1939 in Pontiac, Michigan, the daughter of John and Cleora Maun. At the age of 5, she moved to Auburn, Iowa to live with her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Ralph Rauch where she graduated from Auburn Community School. On October 25, 1958, Darlene was united in marriage to Dennis Wiederin.

Darlene was a gifted seamstress. She created beautiful window treatments, and clothes for her children, grandchildren, friends and customers. She also spent her time quilting, which gave her great joy. Everyone loved her baking talent; her specialty was her coffee cakes and chocolate chip cookies. She looked forward to the holidays as this is when she made her favorite Christmas candy. All her kids and grandkids would look forward to receiving her Christmas candy each year. She loved to volunteer and visit with her friends.

Darlene devoted her life to her family. She was always present - always listening, always loving. Her love knew no limit. She put her family first at all times and nothing made her happier. She looked forward to every visit with her children and grandchildren. Spending time with dad and them is what she cherished. She loved big, gave her love freely and it was a kind of love that stays with you forever. We will miss her dearly and will always carry her love with us.

Darlene is survived by her husband Dennis of Carroll; her children: Christine (Jim) Daley of Council Bluffs, Michael (Julie) Wiederin of Carroll, Debra (Brian) Diver of Glen Ellyn, Illinois, and Sue (Gary) Kirke of West Des Moines; her grandchildren: Jenny (Trey) Snyder, Alex (Meg) Wiederin, Megan (Brian) Schreck, Sarah Diver, Nick (Grace) Diver, Ryan Diver, Zachary (Mandy) Hagedorn, Jacob (Peyton) Hagedorn, and Claire (Cortez) Barfield; her great-grandchildren: Archer Snyder, Oakley Snyder, Banks Wiederin, Wells Wiederin, Wrenley Schreck, Jaxson Hagedorn, Hudson Hagedorn, Thea Barfield, and Tatum Barfield; her sister, Marlene (Mike) Vanderheiden; her brother, David Maun; her sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Patty Smith, Eugene (Marcia) Wiederin, Eileen (Maurice) Lenz, Mark (Cindy) Wiederin, Joan (Lanny) Goetzinger, and Pat (Lynne) Wiederin; as well as many nieces, nephews, other extended relatives and many friends.
