Gail Darlene Barbee Wright
Gail Darlene Barbee Wright, 82, of Kings Mountain, NC, passed away on January 04, 2026 at White Oak Manor in Kings Mountain, NC. She was born May 8, 1943 in Cabarrus County, NC, daughter of the late James B. and Nellie Grier Adams Barbee and was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Marvin Edward Wright, a sister, Iris Lambert and her only brother, Larry Barbee. Darlene, affectionately known as "Deanie" by her friends and family was a longtime member of Landmark Baptist Church in Shelby, NC. She worked as a seamstress at Mauney Hosiery Mills for many years until their closing and at Goodwill in Shelby, NC until her retirement. Darlene was an avid reader and enjoyed working puzzle books and word searches to keep her mind active and pass the time. She loved gospel music and enjoyed going to live concerts. Darlene was a wonderful mother to her sons, a loving "Mawmaw" to her grandchildren and the most adoring "Granny" to her great grandchildren. Memories of her love and guidance will live on in the hearts and minds of everyone who knew Darlene.

Grandchildren: April Wright and Christine Wright
Great Grandchildren: Evan and Kammy Wright
Sister: Janet Linker (Wayne), Concord, NC
FUNERAL SERVICE: Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at 2:00 PM in the Ollie Harris Memorial Chapel
VISITATION: Wednesday, January 7, 2026 from 1:00 PM to 1:50 PM prior to the service at Harris Funeral Home
INTERMENT: Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, NC
