Darlyne "Dar" Carson, 91, of Hayward passed away on Monday, February 16, 2026, at St. Mary's Hospital in Duluth, MN surrounded by her loving children.

Darlyne was born in Ashland WI on July 8, 1934, to Robert Burton and Margaret Julietta (Soronen) Browne. She spent her earliest years in Herbster WI, where she first fell in love with Lake Superior. Her family later moved to Superior WI where she graduated from Superior Central High School in 1952. After high school, she worked for Dun & Bradstreet and also at the UW Superior cafeteria. This is where she met Charles Daniels of Hayward WI, who was enrolled as an Air Force ROTC student. They married in 1954. Charles preceded her death in 1959 while stationed at Malmstrom AFB in Great Falls, Montana.

In 1961, Darlyne moved to California with her 4 young children. In 1963, Darlyne married Wayne "Kit" Carson, who also brought 2 children into the family. Upon Kit's retirement from the Air Force in 1964, Kit and Dar moved to Hayward with their children. They built a home on the Namekagon River and added two more children to the family. Kit was the State Farm Insurance Agent in Hayward for 24 years. Darlyne worked for 20+ years at the Hayward Hospital in Admissions and Insurance.

Darlyne absolutely loved all children, especially babies. Near and dear to her heart were also single mothers. Darlyne was an active member of St. Joseph Parish and founded Elizabeth's Ministries, who supported single mothers and their babies.

Dar will mostly be remembered for her kindness and attentiveness to everyone she met. She had a heart that made everyone know and feel they were someone special, even if they were a stranger. This was modeled after her deep love and following of Jesus Christ, who was the guiding light of her life.

Darlyne is survived by her children Colene (Pat) Mahon of Las Vegas NV, Cindy Carson of Las Vegas, NV, Mark (Colleen) Daniels of Lakeville, MN, Michelle (Kevin) Duffy of Thief River Falls, MN, Michael (Cheryl) Daniels of Hayward, WI, Mary (Keith) Thomas-Ulstad of Plymouth, MN , Danielle (Shawn) Olson of Chetek, WI, Elizabeth (Don) Knop of Dryden, MI; 36 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; sisters Sharon (Dennis) Wiebe, Melodee (Terry) Ostlund, Marilee (William) Ferfon and sister-in-law Jodell Daniels. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Robert Browne and 3 loving grandsons, Kelley, Blaine and Aaron Thomas.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, February 24, 2026 with burial in Greenwood Cemetery, Hayward, WI.
