Darold Gene Johnson

Darold Johnson, 77, Minot, passed away Friday, September 23, 2022, at the Souris Valley Care Center in Velva, ND.
Darold Gene Johnson was born on April 28, 1945, in Ryder, ND, to Gilbert and Hazel May (Severance) Johnson. He was raised and educated in Ryder, graduating from Ryder High School in 1963. He then furthered his education in Bismarck, ND in automotive mechanics.
On April 3, 1965, Darold was united in marriage to Betty Lou Christenson in Douglas, ND. They made their home in Minot, where Darold worked as a partsman at Westlie Truck Center for 36 years. He retired from there in 2013. Betty passed away in 2013.
Darold liked to tinker. Whether he was working on cars, on his house or lake property, he was happy. In his later years, he kept busy trying his hand at whittling, leather working and paracord projects.
Darold is survived by his children, Chad (Lynn) Johnson, Minot, and Travis (Jennifer) Johnson, Parker, CO; grandchildren, Niklas, Thomas, and Elizabeth Johnson; And numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Betty; sister, Frances; brother-in-law, Pat McKinzie.
Funeral: Friday, September 30, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Bread of Life Lutheran Church in Minot.
Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.
Visitation: Friday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials are preferred to charity of donor's choice.
