Darrel Dean Doran

Darrel Dean Doran, 99, of Mount Healthy and Milford, OH, passed away peacefully on January 12, 2026. Born on November 13, 1926, in Draper, SD, he lived a full and meaningful life, devoting many years to his family and profession.

A proud veteran of the U.S. Army, Darrel served his country with honor and received the Bronze Star for his exemplary service in the Korean War. After completing his military service, he earned a Bachelor's Degree and built a successful career of 35 years as an accountant and manager of cost estimating and project proposals in the aviation industry with General Electric. He traveled all over the world, and his contributions to the field were significant, and his dedication to his work was widely respected.

Darrel was a loving husband to his wife of 75 years, Irene Doran, and a devoted father to his daughters, Sheryl Melvin (John) and Diane Doran (James Pyle). He cherished his role as a grandfather to Sarah Melvin (Cindy Bedel), Luke Melvin (Lauren), Rebecca Taylor (Robert), and Hannah Wright (Tanner). He is also survived by his sister, Mary Ellen Jones, and his brother, Gerald Doran as well as eleven great-grandchildren.

Darrel will be remembered for his sense of humor, wisdom, and unwavering support for his family and friends. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

A private service will be held by the family, with a public memorial service to be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Darrel's life to the General Scholarship Fund of the University of South Dakota – Class of 1956.

Darrel was preceded in death by his parents, Justin and Frances Doran.
