Darrel Loyd Lary, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on December 1st at the age of 84 due to complications related to pancreatic cancer. His kind spirit, loving nature, and humility left an indelible mark on all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Darrel is survived by Janet, his devoted wife of 47 years; his daughters Erin (Fin) and Casey; his son Barrett (Catori); and grandchildren Eilish, Liam, and Easton. His family was the center of his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them.
Darrel dedicated his professional life to serve others as a Cardiologist, practicing in the Bay Area and Chico, CA. His work not only healed hearts but also touched countless lives, earning him the respect and gratitude of colleagues and patients alike.
Outside of his profession, Darrel lived life to the fullest. He found peace and joy in the great outdoors, whether fishing, skiing, hiking, playing golf, or playing sports with his kids. A lover of literature, he often had a spy novel in hand or a crossword puzzle at the ready. Family trips to Hawaii and adventures with Janet around the globe were among his most treasured memories.
Darrel's legacy is one of love, generosity, and quiet strength. He taught those around him the value of humility and the importance of showing kindness in all things. His passing leaves a void that can never be filled, but his memory will continue to inspire and comfort all who loved him.
A Celebration of Life for Darrel will be held on Saturday, February 8th, at 11:00 AM at Bidwell Presbyterian Church, located at 208 W 1st Street, Chico, California. A light reception will follow at the church. The service will also be streamed for those who are unable to attend in person.
