With heavy hearts and steadfast faith, we announce the homegoing of Darrell Leo Brandenburg on February 2, 2026 at the age of 95. He was born on January 6, 1931 in Anderson, IN to the late Farrel & Geneva Brandenburg.
Darrell was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and Servant of God. He shared 64 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Lela Smith Brandenburg, who preceded him in death. Together they built a life rooted in faith, love & family.
He was also preceded in death by his beloved son, Tim Brandenburg, his twin brother, Farrell Brandenburg, and his parents.
Darrell was a faithful member of Edgewood Baptist Church for 61 years, where he served many of the years as Chairman of the Diaconate. He designed and oversaw a large construction and remodeling project at the church in 2003.
Darrell was the tenor part of the “Gospel 4” quartet, that sang Christian songs/hymns to various churches and on the radio.
Darrell retired from Guide Lamp as a Senior Project Engineer, where his creativity and intelligence led to many innovations in the Automotive Industry, including the Retractable Headlamp for the Pontiac Firebird, Visor Vanity lighting, and High Beam sensor.
Darrell leaves behind his 2 daughters, Tonya ( Doug ) York and Linda ( Mark ) Nuce, along with 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
A special tribute from the family is given to his devoted grand-daughter, Sandy Singh, who lovingly cared for him with joy, patience, and unwavering compassion. Her dedication, kindness and constant presence, brought Darrell great comfort, peace and joy and was a true blessing to both him and the family. Her daughter Olivia, was also instrumental in his care and as a family want to express our gratitude for caring for him with love.
Darrell lived a life of steady faith, quiet strength, and deep devotion. His presence brought peace. His words carried wisdom. His love created a legacy that will endure for generations.
Though we grieve his passing, we rejoice in knowing his “faith has now become sight” and that he hears the words, “well done, my good and faithful servant”. He fought the good fight, he finished the race, he kept the faith and now he has received his heavenly Crown.
