Darrell Wayne Halik dedicated his life to service through his long career with the Texas Department of Transportation. Community members across Texas traveled more safely each day because of his steady work as a Traffic Signal Technician.

Born in Pearland, Texas, Darrell grew up with values of responsibility and diligence. In 1994 he began his role at the Texas Department of Transportation, where his intelligence and determined spirit guided countless roadway projects. Darrell's work focused on maintaining and improving traffic signals, an essential service that safeguarded drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians alike. Colleagues remember his kind manner, hardworking nature, and clear commitment to the greater good. Away from his professional duties, Darrell enjoyed reading newspapers and welcoming a challenging game of Scrabble. He also appreciated books and games of all kinds, finding joy in thoughtful competition and lifelong learning. "When was the war of 1812?" was the question Darrell kept in his back pocket. The simple riddle showed his dry humor and sharp mind, hinting at how he found joy in plain facts and quiet puzzles.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald Halik and Margaret Halik. He is survived by his brother Randall Halik, his wife Esther; nephews Daryl and Jason Halik, his wife, Jessica and grandniece, Jordyn Halik.

Darrell Wayne Halik passed away in La Porte, Texas, leaving a legacy of public safety and responsible service.
