Darrell McFarland Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mountain View Funeral Home & Crematory - Lewiston on Feb. 13, 2024.
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Darrell "Pinky" McFarland, a devoted husband, loving father and faithful servant of God. Pinky's journey on this earth came to an end on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love, faith and compassion.
Pinky's unwavering devotion to God was the cornerstone of his life. He lived with a profound sense of purpose, guided by his deep faith and commitment to serving others. His gentle spirit and kind heart touched the lives of all who knew him, as he shared the message of God's love through his words and actions.
But above all, Pinky cherished his beloved wife, Patti. Theirs was a love story that inspired those around them - a bond built on mutual respect, unwavering support and endless devotion. Together, they weathered life's storms and celebrated its joys, always leaning on each other with a love that knew no bounds.
The sorrow comes in great waves, but it rolls over us, and through it he will shelter all of us with his love.
Pinky McFarland was born in Lewiston, on March 18, 1942, to Ben O. McFarland and Erma McFarland. He attended Clarkston School District and later transferred to Lewiston School District where he graduated from Lewiston High School in 1960. He was voted All Inland Empire Honorable Mention in football and played baseball as well. Pinky was known for his candy apple purple 1957 Chevy Bel Air.
He married the love of his life in 1965, Patti Shoemaker, and they later had three sons, Gregory (Ann), Bryan and Bradley McFarland.
He thought the world of his two brothers, Lauren and Lewis. He greatly enjoyed working with Lauren at Bell Telephone Western Electric. He also worked with his uncle Duane Johnson and uncle Merly Johnson who taught him all he knew in telecommunications. He and his brother, Lewis, loved building cars as Pinky could build and fix anything. Pinky also mastered the art of sales for over 36 years.
Pinky was known for his love of scriptures and his love for ministering to friends, family and all, as he never met a stranger. One of his greatest joys was his singing, called The King's Heirs, as they performed for over 40 years, which included five trips to the Russian Bloc countries, two trips to Africa and passing out 255,000 Bibles.
He is survived by his loving wife who was by his side for 63 years; his three sons; his sister Leanne Urban; his grandchildren: Logan and Jordan Vaughn and Jacob and Michaela Powell; and three great-grandchildren: Swayzee, Jovee and Emmett Vaughn.
The memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Feb. 23, at Mountain View Funeral Home, 3521 Seventh St., Lewiston, with Pastor Kevin Beeson, River City Church, officiating.
