Mr. Darrell J. O'Connor II, of Lynn, passed away May 30th, 2013 after a lengthy illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice surrounded by his family. He was the loving husband and best friend of Paula S. O'Connor. He was the son of Darrell J. O'Connor I and the late Dorothy (Wysong) O'Connor and son-in-law to Barbara Wallace and the late Frank Wallace. Born in Lynn, MA on January 30th, 1953, Darrell later moved to East Kingston, NH where he graduated from Exeter High School. He enlisted in the Navy in 1971, achieving the rank of Petty Officer, Second Class. During enlistment in the Navy, he was trained in Aircraft Mechanics, was awarded the National Defense Service Metal, a Meritorious Unit Commendation (1974) and a First Good Conduct Award (1975) and was honorably discharged in 1977. He was employed by General Electric as a Jet Engine Tester, retiring after 34 years this past January. Darrell was a very family oriented man, who loved a good joke, fishing, camping and music. He was known to hold jam sessions with family and friends where he played several instruments, including guitar, piano, violin and harmonica. Darrell was well known by all who knew him as a man that loved to make people laugh. He is also survived by his children Darrell J. O'Connor III and his wife Bobbi Ann, of Hampstead, NH, Brian N. O'Connor and his wife Jaime, of Lynn, Ma, Jennifer M. Reed and her husband Jim, of Brownfield, ME and Melanie A. Saleh and her husband Jamal, of Londonderry, NH. He was grandfather to Brian O'Connor II, Aaron O'Connor, Brady Reed, Laila Rose O'Connor, Thomas O'Connor, Aria Saleh and Bree Saleh. He was the brother of Judy Christian and her husband George, of Lynn, Chris Maniatis and her husband Steve, of Lynn, Jerri O'Connor Bottari, of Salem, Mathew O'Connor and his wife Karen, of North Carolina, Kelly O'Connor, of Salem, Marc O'Connor and his wife Maria, of Lynn and the late Timothy O'Connor. He was uncle and Godfather to many loving nieces and nephews. Services will be held at SOLIMINE, LANDERGAN AND RICHARDSON Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Route 129), Lynn. Friends and family are respectfully invited. Visitation hours will be Tuesday, June 4th, 2013 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be Wednesday, June 5th at 10:30am, with interment at Pine Grove Cemetery. Directions and guestbook at www.solimine.com.
