Darrell George Panike

Bristol - Darrell George Panike, age 74, passed away unexpectedly, on Thursday, February 19, 2026, after a medical procedure. He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cynthia Maracle; six children, Jacqueline (John) Engle, Daniel Panike, Cole (Katherine) Panike, Kara (Jerid) Bauscher, Carson (Levi) Heward and Cleve Panike; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two brothers, Chris (Linda) Panike and Brad (Rita) Panike; sister-in-law, Connie Panike; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Ernest Panike (infant) and Greg Panike.

Darrell was born in Weiser, Idaho to William and Fern (Johnson) Panike. He lived and worked on the family farm, started by his ancestors on the Oregon Slope across the Snake river from Weiser.

Darrell was a loyal Patriot and had much love for his country. He also loved anything to do with flying, was a private pilot earlier in his life, and held an aircraft mechanic's license.

He was a multi-talented, big -hearted man who could build, fix, run, or drive just about anything. He built his own home in Bristol in 1988. Darrell was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints in Canandaigua.

Darrell dearly loved hunting and being in the mountainous back country in Idaho. He lived in Alaska before moving to New York in 1984 where he and Cindy raised their children. Although he lived in NY, he considered himself an Idahoan. He and his benevolent spirit will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him.

Friends may call Saturday, February 28, from 10am-11am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 365 Parrish St., Canandaigua. His memorial service will immediately follow the visitation at the church, at 11am. Interment will be in Hillcrest Cemetery, Weiser, ID, at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Arrangements are by Johnson-Kennedy Funeral Home, Inc., Canandaigua.
