Darrell Wayne Reynolds was born to Robert Tillman Reynolds and Frances Clotee (Turner) Reynolds on December 20, 1947, in Houston, Texas. He passed away on December 9, 2025, in Lufkin, Texas, at Parkwood in the Pines Nursing Home.
Darrell graduated from North Shore High School in 1965. He entered the United States Army on October 23, 1968, and faithfully served his country until October 22, 1974. During his service, he served in the Vietnam War. Following his honorable service, Darrell returned to Houston, Texas, where he worked at Reynolds Battery Sales until 1983.
In 1983, Darrell moved to Apple Springs, Texas, where he worked for Quad Graphics in Lufkin. He also became co-owner of Community Grocery in Apple Springs and Groveton Floral Company in Groveton, Texas. Darrell retired from Quad Graphics in 2000 and enjoyed his life at home in the Apple Springs/Crecy area, where he was known for saying he did not like to cross the cattle guard.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents, R.T. and Clotee Reynolds; baby sister, Patricia; brother, Jerry Reynolds; and sister and brother-in-law, Mary Emma and Parker Wilson.
He is survived by his partner of fifty-four years, Fredie Lynn Chapman of Groveton, Texas; honorary son, Jonathan Conner and wife, Sarah, and their boys: Aiden, Preston, and Gavin of Groveton, Texas; Michael York and Jamie of Paris, Texas; Vaughn Lea and son, Dante of Groveton, Texas; sister, Beverly Gillespie and husband, Don, of Saskatchewan, Canada, and daughter; sister-in-law, Gail Reynolds of Houston, Texas; niece, Paula and husband, Ronald Smith; nephew, Larry Reynolds and family; niece, Diane Wood and husband, Jim, of Marble Falls; nephew, Stan Wilson and wife, Robin, and family of Dallas, Texas; as well as many other relatives, extended family, friends, and his beloved church family at Prairie View Methodist Church of Nogalus Prairie.
The family will receive visitors on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Groveton Funeral Home in Groveton, Texas. Celebration of Life services will be held on Sunday, December 14, 2025, at 2:00 PM at Prairie View Methodist Church in Nogalus Prairie. Interment will follow at Moore Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Jonathan Conner, Vaughn Lea, Andrew Chapman, Drew Chapman, Ronald Smith, Jim Woods, Jimmy Hicks, and Robert Davis.
Honorary Pallbearers: Louis Davis, Aiden Conner, Preston Conner, Gavin Conner, and Michael York.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Moore Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 833, Groveton, Texas 75845, or Hospice in the Pines.
