Darrell Shooter Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Mason Funeral Home - Winner on Apr. 10, 2025.
Darrell Iron Shooter, 73, of Winner South Dakota passed to his heavenly reward on Tuesday, April 8, 2025 at the Daybreak Village Assisted Living in Winner, SD after a brave struggle with multiple health issues. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at 10:00AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Winner, SD. Burial will follow in the Saint Mary's Garden Cemetery near Wood, SD. Wake service will begin on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at the Winner Ideal Lakota Community Center at 12:00PM.
Darrell graduated from St. Mary's Grade School in Winner and later graduated high school from The Flandreau Indian School, Flandreau, Flandreau, ND. Darrell was a man of many talents and a vast array of life experiences. From working as a data processor for the Federal Government, a dedicated staff member of a potatoes processing plant, a skilled laborer, an impeccable house painter, and finally as a compassionate health care professional as a CNA at Winner Regional Health Care for over twenty years.
His love of life led him to being an avid lover of cars and mechanics. He not only kept his own cars in top shape, but also helped many people when they had car problems.
Darrell was a top notch pool player. Throughout the years he participated in the local pool leagues winning tournaments and high recognition.. He was always willing to share his expertise with anyone that wanted to know how he "made that shot."
Darrell was always willing to give people rides and never left anyone stranded. When people needed a ride somewhere, he would put their needs in front of his.
Darrell faced his health issues bravely for the past ten years. Always a smile on his face and a positive attitude while he was on his way to healing. He always led a full and helpful life. He touched all that he came in contact with and brought smiles and hope to everyone.
The world will not be the same without Darrell. His legacy will live on through all who knew him and all of the lives he touched. Our world will be a better place because of him.
Darrell is preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr. and Margaret Iron Shooter, son Darrell Iron Shooter Jr., brothers Frank Jr. and Kenneth, sisters Rosemary Eagle Hawk and Martha Iron Shooter, and niece Susan Rose Bell.
