Darrell Arthur Taylor, 61, of Springfield, passed peacefully on Sunday, February 25, 2024. He was born December 15, 1961 in Alexandria, a son of Judith Stargell Taylor and the late George Wiley Taylor.
Darrell loved music and playing drums. He was very kind and generous to a fault, loved his family beyond measure but his two grandchildren, Goopy and Mini Man, were their PaPa's world.
Darrell is survived by his mother, Judith Stargell Taylor; wife, Sharon Kline; daughter, Nicole Taylor; grandchildren, Callie "Goopy" Arraya and Carson "Mini Man" Arraya and brothers, George Dale Taylor and Donnie Taylor; also numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be held on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 2 p.m. in the Scottsville Cemetery.

I played in a rock band with Darrell. Hey, I've played bass guitar for many excellent drummers in my career as a musician and Darrell, he was a very high-level drummer both in the recording studio, and in his many LIVE performances over the years. He was also an excellent live sound reinforcement technician. He built an extensive sound and lighting system for his restaurant/nightclub The Bangkok Blues in Falls Church, Virginia that he owned with his wife Sharon. They put a ton of money into that place but the area was changing quickly and becoming very expensive to both live and to own any type of business in. Darrell and I talked about a lot of things over the years, but some of the late night stories he shared with me about his time serving in the United States Navy were amazing. We lost touch after I retired from performing live music and we kinda went our separate ways. One thing he was really good at was, whatever it was that he wanted or needed to do, he would research and learn everything to know about it. He was very intelligent and knew what it would take before he would begin his projects. I also met his wife and daughter who were both very kind and caring people even when we would practice for upcoming shows in their basement studio, literally shaking their house pushing our equipment to make sure it wouldn't fail for the upcoming gigs. The Taylor's were all beautiful people to me even though they knew it was my bass amplifier shaking their dishes in their kitchen. I very much appreciated their kindness and will never forget it.
