Darrell Tegarden, 73, passed away on Saturday, December 3, 2022, at Diversicare of Larned.
He was born February 26, 1949 in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Norman Raymond and Lois May Dover Tegarden.
Moving from Rogers, Arkansas, he was a Larned resident since 2009. He was contractor and built approximately 400 homes. He played softball, baseball, basketball, and football and was All American Kansas, played semiprofessional baseball, and was inducted into the Wichita West Hall of Fame for football and baseball. He was a member of the First Southern Baptist Church, Larned, served as a church deacon and loved fishing, hunting, guns, and knives.
He married Cathy L. O'Conner on August 25, 1968 in Wichita, Kansas.
Other survivors include: 2 daughters, Kari Moreton, Larned, and Amy (Paul) Carrington, Pratt, Kansas; sister, Elaine Tegarden, Texas, brother, Terry Tegarden, Dodge City, Kansas, Five grandchildren Austin (Kaylee) Carrington, Sara Beth Carrington, Max Moreton, William Carrington, and Seth Carrington; and 1 Great Grandchild Reuben Carrington.
He was preceded in death by: his parents and two sisters Judy Wallace and Janis Tegarden.
Funeral Service will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 13h, 2022 at the First Southern Baptist Church, Larned, with Brother Benny Thompson presiding. Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, December 12, 2022 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery
