Darrell Glynn Tyler
January 25, 1954 – October 2, 2025
Darrell Glynn Tyler of Plainview, Texas, passed away on October 2, 2025, at the age of 71.
Darrell was born on January 25, 1954, to Jack and Geneva Tyler in Matador, Texas. In 1977 he married the love of his life, and life soul mate Brenda Phillips. They made their home in Seminole, Texas, where they raised their two sons and built a life full of love, laughter, and hard work.
After their children finished school, Darrell and Brenda moved back to Plainview in 1998. Together, they ran the family gun shop outside of Kress, where they made countless friends and served the local community with pride. Darrell worked for many years as an equipment operator for Five Star Auctioneers and also bought and sold farm equipment. He was a straight shooter with a strong work ethic, always willing to lend a hand or share a story. He loved cooking for people — feeding others was one of his greatest joys. He was happiest when surrounded by friends and family, whether at home or out on the porch in Quitaque, enjoying the quiet and taking in the view. He never met a stranger and had friends scattered all across the state. His heart was big, and he was always there when someone needed support, a hot meal, or just someone to sit and talk with.
He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Tyler; his mother, Geneva Huckabee; and his older brother, Jackie Don Tyler.
Darrell is survived by his wife, Brenda Tyler of Plainview; his sons, Matthew Tyler and wife Carolyn of Malakoff, and Bobby Tyler and wife Paige of Friona; and five beloved grandchildren: Jack and Sam Tyler of Malakoff, and Madison, Dylan, and Logan Tyler of Friona; and his brother-in-law, Randy Phillips
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Monday, October 6, 2025 at Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel in Plainview, Texas. A reception will follow at Tyler Guns and More.
He didn’t just live life — he filled it to the brim.
