Kornerstone Funeral Directors - PlainviewRichard Leonard Phillips, 82, of Plainview passed away on February 11, 2026. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, February 16, 2026 at First Baptist Church Chapel in Plainview, Texas with Lanny Voss officiating. Interment will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Plainview.
Leonard was born on May 29, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia to Oscar and Mary Phillips. Leonard was the kind of man who loved caring for his family, always putting their needs first. Leonard’s dedication extended beyond his home; he was an active participant in the Boy Scouts of America for over 25 years where he enjoyed showing many young boys how to enjoy the great outdoors just as he did. After a fulfilling career with South Western Bell Telephone, Leonard enjoyed an early retirement at the age of 52. He loved his family and friends spending time with them but also loved fishing, hunting and woodworking. Just give him a fishing pole and a worm he’s good to go!
Leonard is preceded in death by his daughter, Tammy Phillips Waller and her husband Paul; granddaughter, Michelle Lynn Waller; parents, Oscar and Mary Phillips; and brother, Larry Phillips.
Leonard is survived by his wife of 60 years, Donna Lynn Phillips of Plainview; son, Mark Phillips of Plainview; brother, Lamar Phillips of Florida; grandson, Trey Waller of Arkansas; great-grandson, Carter Waller of Arkansas; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
