Darrell Raymond Ward, 68, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away on February 13, 2024, after a brief illness.
Darrell was born on July 21, 1955 to Charles E. and Thurmaleen R. Ward in Little Rock. After Darrell graduated from Central High School in 1973, he went on to study at Louisiana State University and University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
He was a great friend to many, never knew a stranger and was always willing to help his friends at a moment’s notice. He enjoyed listening to music and going to concerts. He also enjoyed horse racing; many a weekend was spent with friends at Oaklawn in Hot Springs. Darrell also loved working outside and had a green thumb. He had a lawn service business for nearly 40 years and retired in January 2023.
Darrell is survived by his wife of 36 years, Melissa G. Ward, his brother Ronald E. Ward, and several nieces and nephews, Ted Gilliam and his fiance Ana Franke of Little Rock, AR, Keren (Russ) Cloud of Benton, Arkansas, Jody (Arial) Ward of Lenardtown, Maryland, and Stephanie Ward of Conway, Arkansas, along with several great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
As per Darrell’s wishes, no funeral service will take place. However, a celebration of his life will be held at a future date.
