He was preceded in death by his parents, William James Welch and Marjorie Mae (Bell) Welch, and his brothers, William James "Bill" Welch, Jr., and Gary Lynn Welch. The early loss of his father only strengthened Darrell's resolve to live a life of purpose and to cherish every moment with his loved ones.
At the heart of Darrell's world was his beloved wife of 50 years, Jackie Lynn (White) Welch. Together, they built a life filled with faith, love, laughter, and the joy of raising their three daughters, Tamara and Joey Dennis of Magnolia, Danette and Brian Waller of Emerson, and Gabby and Steve Cook of Little Rock, Arkansas. Darrell was a pillar of strength and a constant source of guidance for his children, instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and the importance of raising a family with a strong Christian foundation. Darrell was not ashamed of speaking of his Lord and Savior, especially in public, and would lead them to the Lord if they did not know of Him.
Darrell's legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, North and Kristin Lewis, Range White, Stone Dennis, Leiahna Dennis, all of Magnolia, and Izzy Cook of Little Rock. He also leaves behind a great-granddaughter, Ava Blake Lewis of Magnolia, who brought him immense joy. Professionally, Darrell was a respected figure in the agricultural and construction sectors. His hands-on approach led him to a successful career in poultry farming and construction. His dedication to his work was not just a means of livelihood but a testament to Darrell's commitment to building a strong community and providing for his family.
Darrell developed a strong work ethic and love for the land that would define his life. An avid outdoorsman, Darrell's interests included hunting and fishing, activities that not only spoke to his love for nature but also provided precious opportunities to bond with family and friends. Many of his fondest memories were made at the deer camp, where he spent time with his family, sharing stories, lessons, and laughter.
Those who knew Darrell will remember him as a loving husband, a dedicated father, and a doting grandfather. His generosity knew no bounds, and he was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
