Darrin Cecil Hayes Maupin, better known as Itsy, 53, peacefully went home to be with the Lord, on December 8, 2024 with Misty, his loving wife, by his side. He fought a courageous battle against advanced stage pancreatic cancer for 21 months.
He was born on February 5, 1971 to the late Donald Sr. and Nellie (Bennington) Maupin. Born and raised in Bellaire, OH, Itsy graduated from Bellaire high school in 1990 and played football and baseball for the Big Reds.
He met his soulmate, Misty, and they were high school sweethearts. Itsy was married to his wife, Misty Dawn (Ross) Maupin, for 28 years. Through their love, they had 3 children to cherish his memory. Ariann (Cesar) Villazana of Monaca, PA, Jacob (Carrie) Maupin of Bridgeport, and Gracelyn Maupin of Neffs. He has one grandchild on the way who will carry his namesake, Hayes Itsy Maupin.
In addition to his wife and children, he leaves behind his seven siblings; Grace (Ron) Marple of Bellaire, Donny (Cindy) Maupin of Bellaire, Brenda Maupin of Bellaire, Donna (Ron) Thomas of Martins Ferry, Nannette (Bill) Boston of Bellaire, Cookie (Gary) Hornsby of Marengo, OH, Danny (Mary) Maupin of Martins Ferry, a host of nieces and nephews, his brother-in-law Donny (Tammy) Ross of Freeport, OH, and his brothers from other mothers, Eddie Hibbitts and Nick McMahon.
Itsy attended The Salvation Army church and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior.
He was a press operator for CVG-Mayflower in Shadyside for 25 years where he had many friends and stories to share. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his Bellaire Big Reds, Ohio State Buckeyes, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians. He will be dearly missed by those who loved him.
Friends will be received at the Salvation Army church at 315 37th St, Bellaire, OH 43906 on Friday, December 13, 2024, from 1pm until time of service at 4pm with Majors Patrick conducting the service. Itsy asked for all in attendance to wear something that is either Big Reds, Ohio State or, Cleveland Browns in his memory. Schuetz Funeral Home is assisting the family.
