Cheryl Rebecca Maupin, 56, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025 at Duke Regional Hospital. She was born in Guilford County on October 30th, 1969, to Zeke Paire and Jan Boyd.
Rebecca will be lovingly remembered as a lifelong teacher, loyal friend, and heart of the many different families and social circles surrounding her. She was thoughtful, compassionate, wickedly funny and bold, genuine and dynamic. She loved many kinds of music, art, film, fashion, history and culture, animals of all sorts, and people from all walks of life. She was fun-loving and fun to be around, intelligent and curious, always herself and always involved. There was nothing she wanted more than to help her friends, family, and community, even if she had to go out of her way to do so, or overreach herself in the process.
Rebecca's orbit stretched wide, and her gravity was strong. She is survived by her parents, her sisters Aimee Paire, Kristin Freeman, and Lindsey Paire, and her daughter, Elizabeth Eve Maupin, and her large extended family. She is also survived by many friends in many places, sisters and brothers she adopted by proxy of lived experience, parents and children she loved as dear as her own. To know and be known by Rebecca was to know the lively, playful, familiar spark she carried within her, which she ignited easily in every new friend and acquaintance.
A celebration of life will be held November 15th, 2025, from 1pm to 4pm at Union Grove United Methodist Church, 9923 North Roxboro Rd., in Bahama, NC.
The family is being assisted by Clements Funeral & Cremation Services, Inc. in Durham. Online condolences may be sent to www.clementsfuneralservice.com.
