Darryl Goulet, 88
Our family is sad to announce the news that Darryl Eugene Goulet passed away on October 20, 2025 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, at the age of 88.
Darryl was born on July 4, 1937 in Glasgow, Montana to Eugene and Violette Goulet. Darryl lived in Scobey, Montana, and was the oldest of three children. Darryl and his family moved to Kalispell, Montana when he was a teenager. He graduated from Flathead High School in 1955.
Darryl joined the Navy right after high school. Darryl's father Eugene died in 1955, just after he left for the Navy. Darryl was stationed out of San Diego, California where he served four years until 1959. He made three separate trips to/from San Diego and Japan on the destroyer ship called USS Twining. Darryl was on board the USS Twining for three and a half years and served as a radarman. He then transferred from active duty to the U.S. Navy Reserve for an additional four years.
Darryl attended college at Montana State University in Bozeman. Darryl obtained his Bachelor's of Science Degree in 1963. While at MSU, he met Rosetta Jacobson and they married in 1961. They had two children, Steve and Lori. In 1964, Darryl and Rose moved to Torrence, California. In 1966, they moved to Kalispell, Montana, to be close to family. Rose passed away in 2006. Darryl and Rose were married for 45 years.
Darryl and Rose were long-time parishioners at St. Matthew's Catholic Church. Darryl enjoyed volunteering at church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Darryl was still volunteering at church until he turned 80 years old.
Darryl worked as a medical laboratory technician and phlebotomist at Flathead Regional Medical Center (now Logan Health) for 50 years. He also worked as a health inspector part-time in earlier years for the City of Kalispell. Darryl officially retired in 2017 at the age of 80. Darryl enjoyed time with his family, watching his grandson Bridger's soccer games, working in his yard, picking huckleberries, fishing with son-in-law Shawn, and singing with the Flathead Valleyaires Barbershop Chorus.
Darryl moved to Coeur d' Alene, Idaho, in 2021 to be near Lori and Shawn Dolan. Darryl was well taken care of by Lori and her family. Lori made homemade chocolate chip banana muffins every week for him during his five years in Idaho.
Darryl is survived by his son, Steve Goulet and wife Angel Goulet, his daughter Lori Dolan and husband Shawn Dolan, grandchildren, Haven, Christian, Jacob, Bridger, and Brady, great-granddaughter, Braelynn, step-sister, Carol Benedetti, and step-brother, Douglas Gilchrist.
Darryl is preceded in death by Rose Goulet, Eugene Goulet, Violette Gilchrist, Ernest Gilchrist, Bruce Goulet, Faye Goulet, Van Gilchrist, and William Gilchrist.
A funeral service will be held at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Kalispell, Montana, on November 14, 2025, at 11:00 a.m., with a reception to follow. A private burial will be held on a later date at the Glacier Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to St. Matthew's Catholic Church or school.
