Mr. Darryl Wayne Johnson

Mr. Darryl Wayne Johnson, 73, of Graniteville, SC, husband of forty-five years to Vicki Kirkland Johnson, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, while in the comfort of his home.
Wayne, a lifelong area resident of Aiken County, SC, was the son of the late Buford R. and Hazel Nappier Johnson. His working career took him in several different directions. He had formerly been a Butcher with the former Palace Meat Market, a Truck Driver, and a painter.
Wayne took considerable pride in his work and did not quit until the job was perfect. His work ethic was instilled in his sons, Shane Johnson and Tracy McGee. Wayne believed that if a job was worth doing, it needed to be done right the first time, every time.
Wayne was the true definition of a southern gentleman. He was a humble man who believed in doing unto others as you would have things done unto you.
He was a member of the Christian Heritage Church, where he had formerly served as a Deacon.
An avid outdoors person, he was happiest when he was hunting, fishing, shooting pool, going on trips to the dragstrip, playing cards, and, of course, enjoying a good meal. However, Wayne was happiest when he was spending time with his family and, of course, his faithful companion, Coco.
Along with his wife, children, and Coco, Wayne is loved and missed by his siblings, Judy (Donnie) Hammett and Ray (Elly) Johnson, and by his grandchildren, Caleigh (Dylan) Maroney and Evan Johnson, as well as several nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
Friends will be greeted by the family on Sunday afternoon, January 4, 2026, beginning at 2 o'clock at Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 3464 Jefferson Davis Highway, Graniteville, SC. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3 o'clock in the chapel of Hatcher Funeral Home and Cremation Service. In accordance with his wishes, Wayne will be cremated.
