Darwin Boyd Cade was born April 5, 1945, in Madison, South Dakota, to Boyd and Myrtle (Grayson) Cade.  He grew up on a farm near Madison and graduated from Franklin High School in Franklin, South Dakota in 1963.  He proudly served in the Army National Guard and never missed his duty requirements.  He married Cindy Lunt on September 5, 1965, and together had three daughters: Sherry, Sheila and Shawna.  They moved to Yankton, South Dakota, where Darwin began his over 30-year employment with Cimpl Meats, first as a meat cutter and then as a salesman.  After retiring from Cimpl’s, Darwin moved to Sioux Falls, where he became a partner in Tinner’s Bar and Grill, until his health forced him to retire and move back to Yankton in 2021.

Darwin had a very strong faith in God, that he passed down to his family.  He was a devoted father to his children and many of their friends.  Family was a top priority to him.  He started the Cade Family Reunion 51 years ago with an afternoon picnic, which has continued every year and has now become a weekend long event.  He was very proud of his family.

Darwin enjoyed playing basketball and running track in his youth and coaching slow pitch in his younger days.  He enjoyed old music, working in his yard, hunting, fishing, cooking and old cars. He had the gift of gab and loved visiting with people.  He was a member of the Optimist Club in Sioux Falls and Calvary Baptist Church in Yankton.

Survivors include his three daughters: Sherry (Don) Bagstad of Yankton, South Dakota; Sheila (Toby) Armijo of Casper, Wyoming and Shawna (Tim) Caba of Yankton; seven grandchildren: Zach ( Amanda) Boyd, Nicole (Josh) Jensen, Heather (Trenor) Javurek, Kaysia (Tristan Skinner) Armijo, Ashley (Eric) Christiansen, Alex Hatch, and Eliza Caba; six great grandchildren: Nora and Jaxxen Jensen, Jensen Javurek and a baby girl Javurek on the way, and Kyler and Wrenley Christainsen; one brother, Darrell (Wuanita) Cade of Rapid City, South Dakota; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Dwane and sister in infancy, Doris.
