Darwin Simerson

Darwin D Simerson passed away November 7, 2024 to be united with his loving wife Iris Guttowsky Simerson. Darwin was born November 1, 1935 in Saginaw, Michigan to Ervin and May (Snyder) Simerson
Darwin was a loving father, Papa, and old pup, brother and friend too many. Children, Cheri (Craig)Breier, James (Sherri) Simerson, Becky (David) Stewart. He is known as papa to 11 grandchildren, Sara, Travis, Matthew,Hannah, Laura, Jeremy, Justin, Kimberly, Derek, Devin and Preston.
The one name that gave Dar great pleasure was being called "Old Pup" by his nine great grandchildren Ava, Wyatt, Kaiya, Vivian, Charlotte, Sophia, Bowen, Mariella, and Andrew. That he loves so dearly and talked about endlessly. He loved to hear the latest antics they were up to. Darwin truly lived for his family. Darwin had seven siblings, two surviving him, Darrell and Richard (Donna) Simerson.In-laws, Dixie Raaf, Liz Guttowsky, Chris Guttowsky, Jerry (Pat) Guttowsky, And Diane and his lifelong buddy Jim Green. Many nephews and nieces who will deeply miss Uncle Dar. He always shared loving memories of them all growing up. He had very special neighbors and many good friends. A special thanks to Dan and Donna Newberry and the Mary Randall family. Our family is very grateful to them for all that they have done and for being there for him.
Darwin retired from Saginaw steering gear in 1991. His Shop family was part of our family as well. Dar was "that guy " who went to Work early, whistling, and making coffee for all while waiting with the jokes of the day. He loved to make others laugh! As he had his own distinctive and infectious laugh. You can say with all truth that darn never met a stranger. Many of the ladies were addressed as "Toots", as a form of his endearment. As he hugged his kids, grandkids and great grandkids you not only got a "Love Ya", but you often got whisker burn rubs, and the hug of your life. Darwin was preceded in death by his precious wife Iris, his very special granddaughter, Sara his parents, Ervin and May, five siblings Marilyn, Galen, Duane,Shirley and Gary. in-laws, Ira and Vivian Guttowsky, Harold and James Guttowsky. We know that mom, Sara and the others were there to greet him, and are rejoicing in heaven.
We will honor our dad with the celebration of life on November 30, 2 PM to 5 PM at the Chesaning Conservation Club - 13750 Baldwin Rd. Chesaning, MI 48616
