Obituary published on Legacy.com by Forbes Funeral Home & Cremations - Sturgeon Bay on Jan. 7, 2026.
Daryl Allen Larson packed up his trombone and headed home to his Savior in Heaven on Monday, January 5, 2026. He passed in his sleep with the love of his life by his side. He leaves behind his soulmate, Ruann, parents Roger and Norma Larson, brother Brian Larson, daughter from previous marriage - Amanda (Tyler) Fischer, grand sugars Laura Mae and John Fischer, niece Catherine Larson, nephew Jack Larson as well as family and precious friends.
At Daryl's request, this obituary will highlight the past five years of his life which were filled with love, laughter, and the Lord. In fact, he chose baptism in Eagle Harbor as his way to tell the world how important it is to know Jesus as Lord and Savior. The location was fitting, as Daryl was a lifelong resident of
Ephraim, Wisconsin, one of the most beautiful places on earth. God blessed Daryl with the opportunity to purchase the Ephraim Village Cottages property in March 2020. This opportunity allowed him to bring it back into the Larson family after managing the business for over a decade for the previous owner. Buying the property he grew up on was a day he never thought would happen but always hoped it would. He celebrated this accomplishment by asking Ruann to marry him by proposing in American Sign Language while she interpreted the proposal and of course, she said Yes! They wed in September 2020 and hosted a celebration of the year complete with delicious food, fantastic music that featured Daryl on the trombone, a sign language dance duet by Daryl and Ruann, and a lengthy fireworks display.
Daryl was at his best when he was hosting people whether at the cottages or in his home. He hosted all kinds of people from near and far. He never knew a stranger because he had a heart of gold. And that is why people loved him so much. He did not think twice of helping people out whether the person was a friend from childhood or someone he just met a few days prior. Guests that stayed at the cottage resort were drawn to Daryl for his kindness, his knowledge of all things Door County, his endless array of jokes, love for dogs, and impromptu gatherings where the door was open for anyone to attend. Daryl encompassed the kindness, forgiveness, joy, and love of the Lord that he followed and served. People will forever remember how they felt when they were around Daryl, and there was never a shortage of laughter, talk about the Packers and smack talk about "Da Bears". To say that people will miss him is an understatement. Daryl has left a hole in the hearts of many, and a void in the community he called home.
Daryl's family invites you to celebrate his life alongside them at Family Worship Center, 1715 Michigan Street,
Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. Prior to death Daryl asked for friends and family to not send flowers. He would prefer to honor the hometown heroes who came to his home numerous times to assist him after his stroke. They treated him with dignity, respect, kindness, and gentleness every single time. He appreciated them far more than words can ever express. Please send donations in lieu of flowers to: Ephraim Fire Department, PO Box 138,
Ephraim, WI 54211. Please put on the memo line: "Daryl Larson Says Thanks". His family will hold a private burial with military honors this spring.
