Dave Morehead

Lewis David "Dave" Morehead was born on June 8, 1938, in Pryor, Oklahoma, to Joseph Wesley and Elva Dean (Fausett) Morehead. He passed away peacefully at his home in Locust Grove on Wednesday, April 30, 2025, at the age of 86 years, surrounded by his loving family.
Dave grew up near Cedar Crest and attended Cedar Bluff School. It was over a meal at Cook's Restaurant that he met the love of his life, Sue Hoog. After offering her a ride home from work, their story began. On July 15, 1961, they were married in Locust Grove and went on to share over 63 wonderful years together.
A devoted husband, father, and grandfather, Dave was a hardworking man who took pride in providing for his family. He worked in refineries as a boilermaker and later opened a concrete plant in 1962, operating in the Ready-Mix business. Dave also ran heavy equipment and found joy in ranching and caring for the land on the family homestead.
Dave was instrumental in founding the Locust Grove Roundup Club and was a proud member of the Knights of the Round Table at Cook's Café, and the last few years, he has been meeting a group of friends on Thursdays for breakfast. Sundays were reserved for "Geezer Breakfast" with his daughter Connie, her husband, and his brother Bobby before he passed, a time he always cherished.
Dave had a deep love for the outdoors, country music, and travel. He and Sue were long-time ticket holders to the Presley's Country Jubilee in Branson, making bi-monthly trips to enjoy the show. They also made annual trips to Florida. Dave loved his cows, but above all, he loved his family-always checking in on his grandchildren and taking joy in their lives. He will be remembered as a patient, kind, and faithful man who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Dave is survived by: his beloved wife: Sue, of the home; Three children: Connie Coker and husband Gregg, Dwight Morehead and wife Becky, Neil Morehead and wife Rainy, all of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Eight grandchildren: Cory Morehead and wife Martha of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Marcus Murphy and wife Mary-Kate of Pryor, Oklahoma, Dalton Murphy and fiancée Caitlin of Pryor, Oklahoma, Jessica Hood and husband Dylan of Pryor, Oklahoma, Luke Morehead of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Hunter Morehead, Carson Morehead, and Harrison "Harry" Morehead, all of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; Eight great-grandchildren: Brady, Deacon, Olivia, Della, Eli, Griffin, Maverick, and Callan.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers: V.L. Morehead and Bobby Russell; and one sister: Betty McFarland.
A memorial service honoring Dave's life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Brook Hill Farm, 11989 S. HWY 82, Locust Grove, Oklahoma. Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
