David Aguirre Obituary

David "Tata" Aguirre, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Monday, November 3, 2025, in Del Rio, surrounded by his family. He was 76.
Born on December 12, 1948, David lived a full and beautiful life rooted in love, music, and hard work. To many, he'll always be remembered as the singer from The Chocolate Grapevine, but to his family, he was so much more, the heart of every gathering, the one who could fix anything, and the man who made everyone feel cared for and at home.
David is preceded in death by his parents, Tomas C. and Antonia V. Aguirre, and by his beloved wife of 52 years, Consuelo "Money" Aguirre, the love of his life and partner in everything.
He is survived by his three daughters, who were his pride and joy: Michelle (Trini Barrientez), Janice (Antonio Segura), and Carolina (Joel Ealy). He was "Tata" to his grandchildren, Brianna (Abel Marquez), Aneesa Segura, Aria Duenez, Aiden Duenez, Alexis Segura, Brooke Barrientez, Antonio Segura Jr., and Ace Ealy, and great-grandfather to Sofia and Atlas Marquez, who always brought a big smile to his face. He also leaves behind his sister, Maria Elena Cardenas (Joe), and many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
David had a gift for making people feel at ease. He was patient, steady, and full of quiet wisdom. He worked hard his whole life, and everything he built, especially the family home he constructed with his own hands, was a reflection of his pride, craftsmanship, and care. He believed in doing things right the first time and never cutting corners, whether it was in his work, his music, or the way he loved his family.
In his later years, nothing made David happier than spending time with his grandchildren. Babysitting them wasn't something he had to do, it was something he loved to do. Those days, filled with laughter, snacks, and stories, became some of his most treasured memories.
David's family and friends will remember him for his kind heart, his sense of humor, and the way his laughter could fill a room. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the music he shared, and the love he poured into everyone around him. He will be deeply missed, but his spirit and that unforgettable smile will stay with us always.
Visitation will be held on Monday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home. A Holy Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m.
A chapel service will be held on Tuesday, November 11, 2025 at 12 noon in the Trinity Chapel of Faith. Officiating will be Father Jose from Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Burial will follow at Sunset Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Trinity Mortuary, 206 Kings Way, Del Rio, TX 78840. Tradition. Tribute. Trust.
