David "Dave" Andrew Aikins, 51, of Glenshaw, PA, passed away on September 16, 2025, after a brief illness.

Dave was born on July 9, 1974, and was the son of Raymond and Toby Aikins of Franklin, PA. He graduated from Rocky Grove High School as an active member of the class of 1992 and was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps and the U.S. Army National Guard. For many years, he worked at Electralloy in Oil City before relocating to the Pittsburgh area, where he worked for Kawneer in Cranberry Township.

Above all else, Dave was a family man who will forever be remembered for his fierce love and protection of wife Amy L. (Flinspach) Aikins, and son Elijah David Aikins. Dave, Amy, and Elijah were as close as any family can be and spent time together every chance they got. Some of their favorite family activities involved Dave's favorite pastimes of anything Steelers and Pirates, attending rock concerts, and frequenting western PA attractions, namely the National Aviary and the Pittsburgh Zoo.

Dave's son Elijah enjoyed being the absolute center of his father's universe for nearly 21 years. From the moment he learned he was going to be a father, Dave fell in love with the son who fascinated him as a baby, delighted him as a young child, inspired him as a teenager, and became his best friend as a young adult. Dave will be remembered as one of the great fathers of the Duchenne muscular dystrophy global community.

As the love of his wife Amy's life, Dave was a true partner, confidant, comedian, and fixer of anything that could go awry in life. They were in sync and celebrated every joy, made every decision, and confronted every challenge together as a team. Their love for Elijah and for each other was starkly evident to everyone, and Amy will forever take comfort from Dave's love and the way he absolutely cherished her. Their years together were too short, but they were of extremely high quality.

In addition to Amy and Elijah, Dave is survived by his father Raymond, his brother Raymond Jr. and partner, nephew Chris Aikins, mother-in-law Gloria Flinspach, and his biological mother that he recently reconnected with.. He was preceded in death by his mother, Toby Aikins, and his brother-in-law David Flinspach. Dave will also be missed by countless lifelong and work friends.

Friends will be received from 10:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. Friday Sept. 19 in the Reinsel Funeral Home.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. in the funeral home with Rev. Joseph Martin, Presiding.

Interment will be in Venus Cemetery.
