David Aldrich Obituary

Dr. David "Robin" Kirk Aldrich, 83, of Nokomis, FL passed peacefully on September 5, 2025. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and dedicated surgeon. He was born September 25,1941 in Seattle, WA.

He graduated from Central Kitsap High School in 1959, the University of Washington in 1965 and the University of Washington School of Medicine in 1969. He completed his residency in surgery as chief resident at Columbia Presbyterian Mary Imogen Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, NY in 1974. He was a triple Board Certified General, Vascular and Thoracic Surgeon practicing at the Venice Hospital for thirty-seven years with his partners.

The first practice with Drs. Richard Morrison, Sonny Schulten and Sidney Holec was fondly nicknamed MASH. The practice grew to include Drs. Bryan Smith and Issam Halaby and continues as Surgical Associates of Venice and Englewood or SAVE.

He enjoyed spending time with family, reading, boating, fishing and attending horse shows at Fox Lea Farm. He won the Boca Grande tarpon fishing tournament in the mid-1980s.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Linda Spano Aldrich, two children, David Ty Aldrich (Susan) of Naples, FL and Kimberly Rae Aldrich Farrell (Clay) of Venice, FL; four grandchildren, Dr. Virginia Ramsey Aldrich of Brooklyn, NY, Madeline Greer Aldrich of Naples, FL, Caroline Elise Aldrich of Dallas, TX and David Clayton Farrell of Venice, FL; one brother, Gerald N. Aldrich, of Yakima, WA and three nephews and one niece, Brook Aldrich of Seattle, WA, Sunny Aldrich Cameron (Mitch) of Yakima, WA, Aaron Kurth of Rockledge, FL and Jonathan Kurth of Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dale and Elsie Wheaton Aldrich of Silverdale, WA and his sister, Jacklyn Aldrich of Seattle, WA.

A visitation will take place at Farley Funeral Home in Venice on Thursday, October 16th from 3:00PM-5:00PM with the service to immediately follow.

In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Fox Lea Foundation, PO Box 400, Venice, FL 34284 or by visiting www.foxlea.org. A donation in Dr Aldrich's honor will be made to a local charity from the foundation.

Linda, Kim, Clayton and Clay, we are so deeply sorry for your loss. Dr. Aldrich helped to spearhead Venice as one of the top horse show destinations in Florida. We are so blessed for Fox Lea. Prayers and sympathy.
