French Funerals & Cremations - Lomas & EubankCelebrating the Life of David Alexander David Ray Alexander, a loving husband, devoted father, proud grandfather, and esteemed engineer, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026 at the age of 80. He was born on March 16, 1945 in Sikeston, Missouri. He was the eldest son to the late Harvey and Tez Alexander. Though the family moved around a lot, they spent much of their time in Oklahoma, Florida, and Georgia where David met his future wife, Sandra. David was an honor graduate of the Air Force Academy where he earned Bachelor's degrees in both Electrical Engineering and History. He later earned a Master's of Science degree from the University of New Mexico. David was stationed in Albuquerque, New Mexico after graduating from the Academy and spent his entire career in Albuquerque working for several companies including Sandia National Laboratories, BDM, Mission Research Corporation, Air Force Research Labs, and finally as an independent contractor at Cosmiac Research and Development. David was a highly sought-after expert in his field, radiation hardening effects. He won many awards and honors, and was widely published. Above that he was respected throughout the community, many saying he was the best person they ever worked with or for because he made the people around him feel appreciated and valued. David enjoyed his career and his influence was wide reaching. David was a man of faith and was active in the Church of the Nazarene teaching Sunday school for over 50 years. He loved his church family and gave his time without hesitation. He lived a life of devotion, sacrifice, and love, touching the lives of all who knew him. He met the love of his life, Sandra Meeks early in life and married her on November 10, 1968 in Macon, Georgia. They built a beautiful life together for 57 years, facing both happy times and sad times with a faith and love that are rarely found. Together, they raised two children: Alicia and Michelle. He instilled in his children the values of faith, family, and dedication. His greatest joy was his family and his grandchildren Luke and Katie along with their spouses Hannah and Matt expanded that joy beyond measure. David is survived by his loving wife, Sandra; his children, Michelle Alexander and Alicia Haynes, with her husband Russell Haynes; and his grandchildren, Luke Haynes and Katharine Major, and their spouses, Hannah and Matthew. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harvey and Tez Alexander and his brother, James Alexander. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 2:00 pm at Heights First Church of the Nazarene, located at 8401 Paseo Del Norte NE, Albuquerque, NM 87122. Flowers can be sent to the church or donations can be made to the Salvation Army or the Make A Wish Foundation in David's honor.
