David Roger Andersen, 71, a lifelong resident of Enfield, passed away peacefully at home on January 3, 2026, surrounded by his children. He was born on July 16, 1954, son of the late Roger and Elsie Andersen.

David grew up active in the Boy Scouts and played several sports. He was a gifted ice hockey player in his youth and graduated from Enfield High School in 1973. After high school, he enjoyed taking road trips with his friends on his motorcycle, once riding to Minnesota and back. David worked at J. Homestock Furniture before embarking on a respected and decorated career in the Connecticut Department of Corrections. He was named statewide Correctional Officer of the Year in 1996, and retired in 2003 after 22 years, holding the rank of Captain. He spent his retirement years working part-time at Browne Memorial Chapels, and also, helped manage the Knights of Columbus – Washington Irving Council 50 in Enfield, where he was a dedicated member for 50 years. In his spare time, David enjoyed playing golf, taking annual camping trips to Fort Dummer State Park in Vermont, streaming TV shows and movies, landscaping, attending country music concerts, watching UConn and Boston sports teams, taking cruises, and traveling with family and friends to Cape Cod, MA and Cocoa Beach, FL.

David was a devoted father and grandfather to his three children and two grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter, Tara Andersen Peterson and her husband Jeff of Enfield, son, Kevin Andersen of Charlotte, NC, son, Bryan Andersen of Enfield, CT; and two granddaughters, Audrey and Makenna Peterson. He is also survived by his siblings, Barbara Hargraves and her husband Bruce of Enfield, Roger Andersen and his wife Jewel of Longmeadow, MA, Tim Andersen and his wife Tina of Enfield, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong extended family and friends.

Relatives and friends may join the family during the calling hours on Monday, January 12, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., at Browne Memorial Chapels in Enfield. A Mass of Memorial will take place at 10:00 am on Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at Holy Family Church, followed by burial at St Patrick's Cemetery on 1558 King Street, both in Enfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Connecticut Children's Medical Center -Cardiology Department, 282 Washington St, Hartford, CT 06106
