David Woodrow Atkinson Sr. of Dayton, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on July 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Born on November 21, 1969, David dedicated 36 years of his life to Crown Cork & Seal, where he worked diligently as a machine repairman. His hard work and unwavering commitment to his job were hallmarks of his character.

In addition to his professional accomplishments, David was a loving husband to Melisa, with whom he shared 17 wonderful years. He was a devoted father to his sons, David (Myra Johnson) Atkinson Jr., Greg (Jenn) Atkinson, and Ben Atkinson, and was proud to be the stepfather to Alex (Siera) Coburn. David’s family extended to his cherished grandchildren, Taylor, Kailynn, Peyton, Thailyr, Paxton, Silas, Ezra and Maverick, who brought immeasurable joy to his life, particularly when he watched them play sports.

David was known not only for his strong work ethic but also for his fun-loving spirit. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, often engaging in playful banter with the boys. He had a passion for motorcycle rides and loved playing with his dog. Memories of these moments will remain cherished by all who knew him.

David is survived by his brothers, Jeremy Atkinson and Scott Boldman; sister, Joy Sparks, and mother is his two eldest sons, Mary Atkinson. He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph Atkinson; his mother, Margie Boldman; and his brother, Kenneth R. Atkinson III.

David will be remembered fondly for his hardworking nature, his love for his family, and the simple joys of life that he valued so deeply. His spirit and warmth will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know him.

A private gathering will be held by the family.
