Obituary published on Legacy.com by Bradley Funeral Home - Marlton on Nov. 12, 2025.
David P. Augustin, Jr., passed away peacefully on November 5, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on February 18, 1935, in Camden, NJ, Dave's zest for life and love for sports began in his childhood and continued throughout his life.
Dave's heart belonged to his high school sweetheart, Jean Augustin (nee Hetherington), who he first dated 72 years ago and with whom he shared 67 beautiful years of marriage. Together, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared passions. Their devoted son, David Augustin (daughter-in-law Pamela (nee Clarke)), is a testament to the strong family values they instilled. Dave's pride and joy were his grandsons, Clarke and Matthew Augustin, whose accomplishments filled him with immense pride and happiness. Dave was their number 1 fan, rarely missing a game, concert, or show.
Raised in Brooklawn, NJ, Dave was a standout athlete at Gloucester City High School, excelling in football, basketball, and baseball. His love for sports did not wane after he graduated high school; he continued to participate in various softball leagues, sharing his competitive spirit and camaraderie with teammates and friends. Dave's enthusiasm for athletics was infectious, and he was always a source of encouragement and support on and off the field.
Dave and Jean settled in Cherry Hill, NJ in 1965, where they raised their family and became active in the then-booming community. A faithful member of St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, Dave's commitment to his faith was evident in his actions and the way he lived his life.
Although Dave and Jean had deep roots in South Jersey, they loved traveling. They went on more than 30 cruises and traveled to 5 continents. Highlights of their travels included visiting all 50 states, Germany during Oktoberfest, St Petersburg (before the fall of the USSR), Tahiti, and the Great Wall of China. As an Army veteran, Dave and Jean were in Normandy for the 50th anniversary of D-Day. Fittingly, their last big adventure was a Christmas cruise in the Caribbean with David, Pamela, Clarke, Matthew, and Pamela's mom, Wanda. When not traveling to far off places, for many years, the family enjoyed weekends on the beach and strolling the boardwalk in Ocean City.
However, above all, Dave loved his family unconditionally. He cherished every moment spent with them, from the simplest of gatherings to the grandest of celebrations. His legacy is one of love, dedication, and the importance of family. Dave's memory will be carried on in the hearts of those who knew him, and his influence will continue to be felt by the many lives he touched.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on Saturday, November 15th, from 10-11 AM at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church, 327 Marlton Pike, Cherry Hill, NJ 08002. A celebration of life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday at the church. Inurnment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to
