Dighton- David B. Vogan, 71, died on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Lane County Hospital in Dighton. He was born on July 13,1954 at Sarasota, FL the son of Eugene Russell & Evelyn Lois (Bright) Vogan. He married Zella Lorraine Nolan on August 15, 1980 near Dighton. She died on November 19, 2008.
Dave worked for the Sailor Circus all four years of high school and after graduating he and his brother Jerry, joined the Ringling Brothers Circus where he was a Rigger, setting up the highwires for the Flying Wallenda's. He then enlisted in the United States Army and served three years in active duty and three years in Reserves. He was stationed mainly in Germany and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. After his discharge he moved to Dighton with a friend and started a career with Mumma Feed Yard which later became Ranger Feeders. He started on the yard crew but shortly after moved into the feed mill and spent many years as the Mill Foreman. He was a member of the Utica American Legion and a Life Member of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing in the Men's Night Golf at Lane County Country Club.
He is survived by his Daughter- Tonya & Chandler Shull of Dighton; Grandson- Jeremiah Dike of Beatrice, NE and two Sisters- Elizabeth (Vogan) Hitt-Cruise (David) of Myakka City, FL and Janet Kordell of Bradenton, FL. He is preceded in death by his Parents, Wife and Brother- Jerry Vogan.
Funeral Service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home in Dighton with Rev Darrin Hammond officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery with military honors by United States Army Division 1 at Fort Riley Honor Guard and Southwest Kansas Veterans Honor Guard. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to Service Time Friday at Boomhower Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Lane County Hospital in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
