Deanna Marie Shaffer

Dighton - Deanna Marie Shaffer, 82, died on Friday, January 9, 2026 at Lane County Hospital in Dighton. She was born on October 13, 1943 in Dighton to Oliver Chester & Edith Mary Ann (Brocher) Johnston. She married Robert Lee Shaffer on September 6, 1964 in Dighton.
Deanna graduated from Dighton High School, attended Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina and later graduated from Salina Beauty Academy. After her marriage, they lived in Salina before moving to East Sparta, Ohio and later to Beech Grove, Indiana. They moved back to Dighton where she was a homemaker, assisted with the rural mail route and worked in the Dietary Department of Lane County Hospital. She enjoyed sewing, refinishing furniture, antiques, and crafting. Deanna enjoyed cheering on her favorite sports teams and especially being involved with her Grandchildren. She was a member of Dighton United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her 3 Daughters- Dana James (Jeff Roth) of Dighton, Michelle (Kent) Shull of Dighton and Danielle (David) Foster of St Joseph, Missouri, Brother- Guy Wayne (Virginia) Johnston of Dighton, 3 Granddaughters- Abigail James, Bridget James, Dale Rufenacht, 3 Grandsons- Mason Shull, Gunther Shull & Owen Foster and several beloved Great- Grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her Parents and Granddaughter- Hope James.
Funeral Service will be at 1:00 PM Tuesday at United Methodist Church in Dighton with Rev. Laura Cherry officiating. Burial will be in Dighton Memorial Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Lane County Hospital or Deanna Shaffer Memorial Fund, in care of Boomhower Funeral Home.
