David Frank Bakes, 75, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at his home in Rochelle, Illinois. Dave was born on June 11, 1949 to Frank W. and Bernice (Oldenburg) Bakes in Elmhurst, IL. He served with the United States Army for two years. On June 22, 1968, he married Cheri Hoefle at Mary Queen Of Heaven Church in Elmhurst IL. She preceded him in death on May 16, 2004.
Dave enjoyed spending most of his time with Susan doing all the things they loved together. He loved his motorcycle rides, camping with his friends and family, working on projects and yard work. He always wanted to help others and talk to everyone. His utmost favorite thing to do was spending quality time with his grandchildren he loved and cherished dearly.
Dave is survived by his two daughters: Sarah Lindaman of Seguin, TX and Dr. Emily (Wade) Raymer of Pendleton, IN; long time special friend, Susan Andracke of Rochelle; three brothers: Dan (Karen) Bakes of Schaumburg, IL, Jeff (Ana) Bakes of Bartlett, IL and Ron (Jeanette) Bakes of Warrenville, IL; sister, Dale Burgess and five grandchildren: Riley, Elijah, Eadan, Elliott and Emmett.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he is preceded in death by his son, Nathan; brother, Russell Bakes and sister, Joann Bakes.
Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 P.M., Friday, March 21, 2025 at the Unger-Horner Funeral Home, 400 N. 6th St., Rochelle with military honors provided by the Eastern Lee-Ogle Honor Guard.
