David Bangert Obituary
David Thomas Bangert, 83, of Carlinville, IL, passed away on April 26, 2024, in Carlinville, IL.
David was born in Carlinville, Il, on December 15, 1940, to James Fred and Evan Ann (Evans) Bangert. He went to high school at Carlinville High School and graduated in 1958. He worked as a mechanic in several neighboring towns throughout his life. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, and just growing anything, sitting on the porch, and fixing anything he could get his hands on with great determination.
He also had a deep sense of responsibility to his neighborhood. He was always ready to help a friend or neighbor. Whether it was mowing a yard, fixing a car, yard clean-up, snow removal, or any job where he could use his Kabota which gave him great pleasure. He enjoyed car and tractor shows and anything about building or fixing motors. He was especially happy to have any of his grand-children and great-grandchildren come to visit.
David is survived by his long time companion of 30+ years, Alice Bown, his brother Daniel (Sue) Bangert of Shipman, IL, one daughter, Kathy (Kevin) Kalb of Salem, IN, and 5 step-sons; Dale (Amy) Ball of Hettick, IL, Brad Ball of Glen Rock, Wyoming, Russ Ball of Carlinville, IL, Bill (Mary) Bown of Havelock, NC, Kenny Bown of Carlinville, IL, and 2 step-daughters; Kelly (John) Clark of Palmyra, IL, Mary (Matt) Ray, and 14 grandkids and 8 great-grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 brother, Richard, and sister-in-law, Patty Bangert
Memorial donations may be made to Plant a Tree or NRA.
Davis-Anderson Funeral Home, Carlinville, is in charge of arrangements.
