David Barenberg, age 82, a long time Hinsdale resident, passed away on August 2, 2024. David was born on December 23, 1942, to Isadore and Emilie Barenberg in Chicago. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn and the loving father of Amy.
At a young age, David's family moved to Michigan City, Indiana where he attended Marsh Grade School and graduated from Elston High School. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Western Michigan University and a Master of Science degree from the University of Illinois.
David and Carolyn (nee Markl) married in 1977, moved to Hinsdale and made it their forever home. In 1985, they welcomed their daughter Amy.
David and Carolyn enjoyed 47 loving years together, dancing Tango at University of Chicago and Northwestern University Tango Clubs, participating in cooking and art lessons and attending car shows. David was also a collector of old Lionel Trains and old Retina German Cameras.
After college David began his sales career working at Xerox for 11 years and then joined Coldwell Banker Commercial Sales in 1979. In 1992, David started his own company, Barcorp Commercial Real Estate Company.
David was a member of the Congregation Etz Chaim, Lombard, IL.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at 10AM until time of funeral service at 11:30AM at Adolf & Powell Funeral Home, 7000 S. Madison St. Willowbrook, IL 60527. Interment will be held at Greenwood Cemetery in Michigan City, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, memorials made to the American Lung Association: www.lung.org
