Mr. David Dorvell Barr, the son of Alto C. and Cornius Elizabeth Brown Barr was born in Lake City, South Carolina on March 10, 1941. He departed this life on Tuesday, February 15, 2011 at his residence. Mr. Barr was educated in the Florence County Public School System and the School for the Blind in Spartanburg, SC. He worked as a Therapeutic Instructor for the Lighthouse Industries for the Blind in New York and retired after 30 years to care for his ailing wife. On September 15, 1963, he was united in marriage to the great of his life, Charlotte Weldon Barr and they remained married until her death on September 16, 2001. He was predeceased by his father, Alto; wife, Charlotte; a sister, Inez Barr; and two brothers, Alto C. Barr, Jr. and Randy Kay Packer. Mr. Barr will always be remembered for his quick wit, brilliant smile, wealth of knowledge and willingness to help and give to others. David was always about family and he loved and cherished his mother with all of his being. He leaves to mourn and cherish his memory: his beloved mother, Cornius Barr of Florence, SC; a loving brother, Oneal B. (She'ron) Packer of Florence, SC; half-siblings, Sam Barr, Jr. of California; Stephen Barr of Sebastian, FL; Carrie L. Dennison Myrtle Vanderhose, Rev. Gloria Ford, all of Georgetown, SC; and Harry (Sheryl) Davis of Philadelphia, PA; special niece, Leslie (Charles) Flowers of Florence, SC; sister-in-law, Loretta Herman of Sussex, NJ; brothers-in-law, Johnny Weldon and Earl Weldon of New York, NY; goddaughter, Shirleen (Roland) Garcia of Ahoskie, NC; best friend, James (Julia) Muhammad of Florence, SC; special friend, Pricisella Seabury of Florence, SC; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
